  Welcome to my website.
My name is Jose M. Perez and
I am a Licensed Marriage and    Family Therapist.

My goal
when working with individuals, couples or families is to create a safe and comforting environment to facilitate clients through the challenges that may be interfering with their ability to function at their maximum potential in today's world. Creating strong therapeutic connections with my clients is one of the essential steps in the healing process. I offer a compassionate and caring stance to help foster your own individual strengths.

I can counsel
with anxiety, depression, relationship problems or life transitions, including but not limited to marriage, divorce, loss of a job or death of a loved one. I offer special skills for individuals in need of assistance in areas of gender identification, including coming out to family and friends, HIV diagnosis and various other issues confronting the gay and lesbian community. I am also fluent in Spanish and have worked extensively with the Latino community.

Helping individuals
explore family legacies can be rewarding in dealing with issues of depression, isolation and the inability to form healthy relationships.

Couples therapy
helps each person develop a voice in order to express their needs and desires from their loved ones in a supportive and caring manner. Emotional Focus Therapy is an empirically validated structured approach usually comprising of 8-20 sessions, where couples create a positive shift in relationships to help foster a secure bond.

Family Therapy
can benefit our understanding of who we are. We all live within the context of a larger system. Whether it is our present family or our family of origin, helping to explore the relationships we have created is often beneficial in finding solutions to the problems we confront. Creating better connections and discovering ways to enlist a support system can help in navigating through everyday problems. Through direct participation in therapy, families can tap into ways to garner strength, wisdom, and support of the wider system.
